TATTOO PRICE GUIDE
How much does a tattoo cost?
Most studios refuse to publish numbers. We do. Below is the full starting price list we quote from at Ravenstone Tattoo Co., from a $400 small piece up to long-term large-scale projects. Every figure is a starting point: the final quote depends on the design, the detail, the placement and how many hours the piece takes.

What changes the price of a tattoo
- Detail and style. Realism, portraits and dense blackwork take more hours than fine-line or lettering at the same size.
- Placement. Ribs, hands, feet, knees and elbows are slower to tattoo and often need a second pass.
- Colour. Blends and layered colour need more passes than black and grey.
- Sessions. Large pieces are quoted per session, so a back piece or sleeve is spread across several appointments.
- Cover-ups. Working over existing ink needs a heavier design and more time than fresh skin.
Frequently asked questions
- How much does a small tattoo cost?
- At Ravenstone Tattoo Co. a small or simple design starts at $400, a fine-line piece at $450 and a small but highly detailed piece at $500. Size is only part of it — line count, shading and placement all change the time in the chair.
- How much does a half sleeve or full sleeve cost?
- A half sleeve starts at $1,500 and a full sleeve at $2,500. Sleeves are planned session by session, so the final figure depends on how many sessions your design needs.
- Why do two tattoos of the same size cost different amounts?
- Price follows the work, not just the measurements. Heavy black packing, colour blends, realism and portraits take far longer than clean linework, and awkward placements such as ribs, hands or the back of the knee take longer again.
- How do I get an exact price for my idea?
- Send your idea through the booking form on our home page. Pick the closest size band, describe what you want, attach a reference picture if you have one, and we come back with a firm quote before anything is booked in.
- Do prices include the design work?
- Yes — custom drawing and stencil work for your piece are part of the price bands listed on this page.
